Carpenters Mate Below Zero

We are not kidding, Carpenters Mate is going to be used in below zero temperatures in the Antarctic, where It can get down to -20 degrees celsius. Chilly!

Our Stainless Steel wood screws are now on their way to the Antartic to help the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT) in their ongoing conservation projects. It will be one of the harshest environments that our stainless steel screws would have been used in.

To give you a bit of history on the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust (UKAHT). They have been around since 1993 and are a registered British charity. They originally worked with the New Zealand Antarctic Heritage Trust (NZAHT) but they realised there was a need to recognise and conserve the british history already there. As well as preserving the buildings at particular sites, UKAHT also conserve artifacts, which include scientific instruments, historical documents and even canned food.

All photos copyright to UKAHT.

What UKAHT have achieved over the years is astonishing, everything is now a perfectly preserved time warp, and we are proud that Carpenters Mate has become apart of this conservation process.

Thank you UK Antarctic Heritage Trust for letting us feature you. You can visit the Antarctic to see all the preservation work done, and the array of wildlife surrounding the sites by visiting their site below.
